Sharesail 1 is a California partnership in a 2001 model HUNTER sailboat. Each partner owns a 1/12th interest in the yacht and shares 1/12th the expense. The idea is by sharing operating expenses equally we can own and sail yachts maintained to the highest standard.

Here is how Sharesail works: Owners will have a 1/12th share in the yacht. You will have 20 days of sailing per year. To handle the scheduling of the sailing, owners are offered (1) 5 day Sailing Period per quarter. A Sailing Period is defined as 6 nights and 5 days. You may reserve your sailing time up to one year in advance, but no later than the start of the quarter in which the sailing falls. You will have the first right of refusal on those dates the next year. Owners may trade time among themselves.

The goal of the partnership is to provide the owners of the yacht years of adventure sailing Southern California aboard a constantly upgraded and beautifully maintained HUNTER Yacht at an affordable price. Unlike for profit sailing clubs, these are equity partnerships and may be sold  or traded by the partner at any time. This is a great way for first time owners to move up to a larger yacht later without penalty.

The Yacht is operated under the auspicious of the San Diego Sailing Academy. Insurance is provided to the partnership from SDSA's Master US SAILING policy.
